A Shocking Mourning

I prefer not to talk about work or things related to work but today, I am going to.

As I was doing my business in my office, one of the admissions advisor asked me to go into her office. She then told me to read the story on her computer screen. As I was reading, another co-worker who was there was crying silently. When I finished reading, I was silent for a few seconds in shock. One of our prospective student who had planned to start in our September session was murdered over the weekend. He was shot to death. My co-worker was in tears because she was dealing with him to get all his paperwork in.

There was another prospective student who passed away about two months ago whom I was working directly with. He was an older man and must have died of an illness. The last time I spoke to him was two weeks before he passed. Our team was in a meeting when I asked about his status and one of the advisors said he had passed.

I am heartbroken.
